Event overview
Margaret Brennan comes from a very musical background. Her mother R.I.P was involved with the Hennessy Family in Carlow for many years and was a member of the Creole Swing Band where she met her husband John Joe Brennan whom in his day was one of the great legends in guitar playing.Margaret's two brothers Conal & John also play and have a keen interest in a wide range of music.
Margaret has been writing her own music for many years and sings and plays guitar & bass. She teaches but her real love is to stand on stage, get lost in the moment and perform some well known songs as well as her own.
Based on their name alone, The Goddamsels aren’t your grandparents’ idea of country music. Formed out of the longstanding friendship between Alberta-based singer/songwriters Mallory Chipman and Freddi MacDougall, The Goddamsels write songs with strong, empowering messages, blended with elements of folk, pop and traditional country, all tied together by their stunning, instinctive harmonies. It’s all fully displayed on their six-song debut EP, Wayward Daughter (Royalty Records 2022) produced by Juno Award nominee Scott Franchuk. Wayward Daughter explores classic country themes of hardship, heartache, and the power of togetherness, all delivered with a modern edge. The Goddamsels were nominated for the 2023 Roots Artist of the Year at the Country Music Alberta Awards, and recently represented Alberta at the 2023 Folk Alliance International showcase in Kansas City, Missouri. After completing their 40-date "Wayward Summer" tour across Western Canada in 2023, the Goddamsels are looking forward to their next performance in Ireland in early 2024, where they are featured as official showcase artists in the Your Roots Are Showing folk music showcase
